In God’s Time

2 Peter 3:8-9, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

About a year or so ago my mother-in-law introduced me to this song. I loved it then and I still love it now. Whenever I listen to it … or read the words she had framed for me and now hang on my wall … it reminds me of the verse above. It reminds me that even though it seems that God is taking for-ev-er to answer my prayer … He is not slow … He still has a plan … He still loves me … and His ways are not always – if ever – MY ways.  In His time all the storms will work out.

It seems that right now I have quite a few family members and friends who are going through their own battles.  Their own trials.  As I prayed for each of them today this song … and this verse … came to my mind again. It’s for them … and even those of you I don’t know but God does … that I am sharing this song today. If we have Christ, we have it all.   In His time it will work out … and usually much better than we had even pictured it ourselves.

In God’s time
A million years might only be a single day
And everything He does gets done His own way
In God’s time

And in God’s time
You’ll find that certain someone you’ve been praying for
And they’ll be everything you dreamed of and a little more
In God’s time

Oh, but no one knows
Not you or me
It might be tomorrow or it might never be
Oh, but don’t lose faith
Put it in His hands
‘Cause it might be that He might have a bigger plan
Than you had in mind
Miracles happen
In God’s time

And in God’s time
You’ll finally get the chance to hold your baby girl
And all the sudden everything’ll make sense in this crazy world
In God’s time

Oh, but no one knows
Not you or me
It might be tomorrow or it might never be
Oh, but don’t lose faith
Put it in His hands
‘Cause it might be that He might have a bigger plan
Than you had in mind
Miracles happen
In God’s time

And In God’s time
You go to sleep and wake up with wings and learn to fly
And you finally meet your loved ones on the other side
In God’s time

  2. Great reminder. I feel like time is slipping past too fast sometimes, but it’s great to know that with God a day is like a thousand years; everything he wants to get accomplished will be. Thanks for sharing.

    • I know for me time does march on so fast. It seems my daughter was just starting Kindegarten and now she’s off to college. That’s why I’m trying to just focus on what’s the deal for today 🙂
